Jan Gaska
10th May 2025
Jan began by outlining his background and he gave an amusing account of his creative journey. It was helpful watching him plan his painting, sketching out the landscape composition with burnt umber and blue first. He talked about the makes and types of brushes, paint and mixing media he uses and answered questions from the membership.
Jan is a modest, quiet man who became absorbed in his painting. You can see his excellent painting next to his source photo below. After painting the trees and bushes in greens, he kept the distant lake and hills very pale to create a morning mist effect. One member said, "I thought he made it look easy which I'm sure it wasn't."
